The 800lb Gorilla of Online Marketing (Part 1) (Video)
by Marc Lindsay / LTSEO
What would it mean to your business if you could be in front of a perfectly targeted customer the moment they thought about your product or service?
At its pinnacle, this is what Search Engine Optimisation is all about, being the first solution people see the moment they think or search about it.
Googles growth and market saturation has taken the world by storm, like Xerox owns ‘photocopy’ and Coke owns ‘cola’, Google now owns ‘search’ (“Google it”), there are literally thousands of search engines, and at last count, Google owned around 62% of all searches conducted online.
What this means, is that if you aren’t building and optimising your site for Google, then you’re almost wasting your time. Would you setup a cafe in the middle of a desert? Or would you set it up in the centre of town next to a busy intersection? I know that’s an exaggeration, but it’s literally that important.
The thing we love about Google, is you’re building your site for a market you already know everything about, you know the demand for each individual search term, how many people are typing it in, and you can even work out whether they are in a buying mood or research mood.
Over the next three newsletters, we’re going to be taking you through the basics of Search Engine Optimisation through a series of videos.
This first video covers an introduction to Search Engine Optimisation and covers on-page factors that should be taken into account when setting a good foundation to work from. The video is just over 17 minutes long.
