The 800lb Gorilla of Online Marketing (Part 2) (Video)
by Marc Lindsay / LTSEO
Last month we took you through the first video for the basics of Search Engine Optimization.
Any business worth its salt understands the value of ranking in the major search engines for its market and its major keywords. If you are a retailing business for example, your prime location is in a high traffic shopping centre that gets you a lot of exposure. The centre will sell you on their advertising budgets, their walk through traffic, and what their overall revenues are for each of the various shops.
Notice one key word there, “walk through traffic”. Walk through traffic does not mean, “targeted ready to buy your product traffic”, it means out of every 500-1000 people who walk past your shop, maybe 2-5 will walk in. And for that pleasure, the shopping centre will charge you $5,000-$10,000 or MORE per month for an averaged sized shop.
And we wonder why 95% of businesses fail in the first 5 years.
When you own or control the top rankings for your keywords, that’s like having people who are actually interested in your product or service, walking past your shop, and more than likely walking INTO your shop because they are targeted.
That is the key to business success, having a targeted market that you can appeal to, and communicate with to sell your product.
Which would you prefer, being the street peddler trying to sell to the open crowds walking past, or being a right in front of a crowd of people wanting and screaming for your product.
